Working with artists Sophie Mellor and Simon Poulter from Close and Remote, we organised three excursions and invited academics, artists and activists to attend.
Together, we visited the Bristol Museum, Collard Hill in Somerset and Severn View (Aust) Services to explore complex issues related to the environment through the lens of the Large Blue Butterfly.
The Large Blue butterfly was once extinct in Britain but it is now flourishing due to conservation efforts. Thinking- with this species we spoke about challenges related to nature access, agency, intergenerationally and intersectionality. These conversations will help inform future P2P activities and work.
Brigstow Researcher Lois Peach wrote a blog about this experience: “Embracing the interconnected wonders of Collard Hill: Academics, Artists, Activists and (Neo-)Aurelians come together to see the Large Blue butterfly.”
